The Types Of Belly Button Piercing Used Today
Depending on what kind of navel you have will tell the piercer what way to pierce you navel. There are different ways for the many different kinds of looks and different kinds of navels. Many people believe there is only one type of piercing you can get. But there are actually several and you may want to get one, two, or all of them. Some people get their navel pierced for the look or to have their own special spot for their own special jewelry that no one else can see unless the person wants them to. There are several different ways of having your belly pierced. Some of these depend on the size of your belly and whether your navel is an "innie" or an "outie." "Innie" piercings are the most common type of piercing for the belly. The needle is pushed through the skin right above the navel plug. If you are in shape and have the right shape to your abdomen, these piercings will look great. Otherwise, they can look uneven and unbalanced. Without the right anatomy, your new belly piercing could also be torn through the skin if it is not in deep enough and is too shallow.
It is traditional to use the navel plug for an "outie" piercing. This is leftover from your umbilical cord. These are difficult piercings to do at times due to the plug is comprised mostly of scar tissue and that is very hard to get the needle through. There are also many blood vessels in and around this plug. Bleeding may be more profuse due to this reason. Infections must be taken care of immediately. They can become systemic in nature if you don't.
There is also the piercings on the top, bottom, or sides of the navel. Some people like to have one, and others like to have up to four done. You must be careful with this many piercings at once. Bleeding and infections can be big problems in these cases. It is said that it is better to have one done at a time, let it heal, and go back for the next one.
You can also choose your very first ring for your belly. As always, make sure it is stainless steel in nature. This leads to less allergic reactions and other problems. You may also try titanium or eighteen karat gold.
For those of you scared of the whole process, they have invented clip on belly rings. These look just like the normal belly rings except they clip on like earrings do and stay in place. This is a great alternative if you are unsure about getting your belly pierced. Getting your belly pierced should always be a personal decision and not one you make in haste. It can take six months to a year for the piercing to heal, so make sure you will be able to take care of it, especially if it gets infected.
