It still need a long time for tablet pc to take place of mouse and keyboard
As reported recently, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the so-called "post-PC era " is still very far from us, because the Tablet PC is just a temporary fashion, it stll need some time for tablet pc to replace the traditional mouse and keyboard. The following is a summary of the article: Microsoft CTO Craig Mundie once said that Tablet PC may be only short-term fashion, it will be over soon.
But there are some facts which are different from these words. The sale of ipad exceed 15 millions in the three quarters. Because of this, some well-known companies followed the steps to share the tablet pc market cake, such as google, HP, RIM and so on. Even Microsoft has also said that the system will support the next generation of Windows Tablet PC.
But this week there's something indicate that Mundie's remarks seem justified:
Intel's first quarter fiscal 2011 financial results exceeded Wall Street expectations, PC business grew 17% in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010 rose 12% year on year. (Note this means PC business growth).
Apple's fiscal 2011 second quarter earnings are still strong, but sales were far below expectations. Apple's second quarter, sold iPad 4.7 million, lower than the industry expected 600 million units.
RIM PlayBook the first day of Tablet PC sales expected to be 50,000 (including the booking number), did not bring any surprises to the consumer.
Android's first Tablet PC Motorola Xoom also performed poorly.
Thus, the current tablet pc fever was caused by iphone not buy tablet pc itself. Three years ago after iphone launched, many people found that they can read email, browse web page, reading and playing on the smartphone. This made the consumer thought that if the size of the smartphone is bigger it is much better to use. And ipad just meet the needs.
But many users still use the iPhone as a phone, or as cameras and MP3 players and other small equipment replacement, or in specific circumstances browse the web, send and receive mail, but the actual computing tasks are still on the desktop computer. For this part of the user, the purchase cost and high iPad.
